A boil water notice in Appalachia is still in effect after a landslide, but one lane has been reopened. The Appalachia Fire Department posted on Facebook that the landslide occurred on Exeter Road which caused the water main break. One lane of the road is back open now, and the water line has been repaired, but the boil water notice will remain in effect until late Thursday. Crews were called to the landslide at around 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday and worked all day to clear the road. VDOT worked alongside the Appalachia Public Works to repair the water line on Tuesday. Public Works personnel will continue cleanup efforts along the road today and VDOT will begin work on the road in the near future. The landslide affected 107 households. Anyone with questions or concerns is asked to call the Town of Appalachia Public Works at 276-565-3909.
