Bristol, Tenn./Va. (January 27, 2022) -  Rosanne Cash and JJ Grey & Mofro are two of the top headliners for the Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion music festival, Sept. 9-11, 2022, in Historic Downtown Bristol, Tennessee-Virginia. The announcement of Grey and Cash are part of the first round of artists announced today by festival organizers.
"We are thrilled that JJ Grey & Mofro and Rosanne Cash are among our headliners this year," said Leah Ross, executive director of advancement for the Birthplace of Country Music, the parent nonprofit of the festival, theBirthplace of Country Music Museum, and WBCM Radio Bristol. "Rosanne's participation is especially significant as we recognize the 95th anniversary of the 1927 Bristol Sessions, which her father Johnny Cash named 'the single most important event in the history of country music.'"
Though the festival celebrates the impact of those recordings every year, this year's lineup reflects just how far-reaching and influential the 1927 Bristol Sessions continue to be across a wide range of music genres.

POUND TOWN HALL MEETING HELD TUESDAY NIGHT WITH ONLY MAYOR AND ONE COUNCIL MEMBER IN ATTENDANCE

1/26/2022

Picture
Town hall meeting in Pound held Tuesday night to discuss whether to remain a town. Only two town leaders attended the meeting, Mayor Stacey Carson and a council member. The meeting came after Majority Leader of the House of Delegates Terry Kilgore filed legislation to remove the town's charter. Recent turmoil has brought town services, including water, sewer, and public safety, to a standstill. The town council is unable to take action itself because it received an injunction after suing two former members. The council also needs a quorum of three to take any action, but new members must be appointed by a judge. Some business owners showed an interest in joining the council in an attempt to save the town government, although several businesses have closed in the last year. No Virginia state legislators were present at the meeting or watched it via Zoom.
