![]() Ballad Health has designated Holston Valley Hospital in Kingsport for COVID-19 care. Women's and newborn services will be consolidated to the other hospital in Kingsport, Indian Path Community Hospital. It will be a Women's and Newborn Center of Excellence, which will be the first of its kind in the Appalachian region. The move had already been in the works, but plans for the center accelerated in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. Ballad's goals in this move are freeing up bed space at Holston Valley Medical Center for a potential COVID-19 surge and opening the forthcoming Women's and Newborn Center of Excellence. Holston Valley patients needing OB/GYN care, including labor and delivery, will begin getting that care at Indian Path on April 22. Ballad will also be moving acuity adjusted services, including ICU care, from Indian Path to Holston Valley on April 15. Emergency departments at both facilities will remain open. Ballad has also extended the COVID-19 surge plan for the Kingsport market and that all COVID-19 care will now take place at Holston Valley. They believe that the move will free up 40 beds for COVID-19 patients. Comments are closed.
