A man has been arrested in Johnson City after trespassing at a hotel. Peter B. Grindstaff, of Gray, was arrested on Monday after Johnson City officers responded to the Quality Inn at 1900 South Roan Street at approximately 10 a.m. in reference to a subject trespassing. Officers spoke with hotel employees who said that Grindstaff was sleeping inside a room that was supposed to be vacant. When officers found him, they were able to identify him and found that he was a convicted felon and had an active warrant in Johnson City and was taken into custody. Hotel employees also notified officers of a handgun in the room where they had initially found Grindstaff. A search of the room revealed a Hi-Point 9mm handgun under the mattress. Grindstaff was charged with being a convicted felon in possession of a handgun and was transported to the Washington County Detention Center where he is being held in lieu of a $10,000 bond.
