A night of flooding causes mudslides in Buchanan County, but most roads are passable. The Buchanan County Sheriff's Office reports that the Virginia Department of Transportation and local first responders have been working through the night after mudslides and flash flooding closed several roads. Routes south of Grundy were some of the most impacted areas of the county. The following roads are still closed VA-83 West from Grundy to Hurley Road, Route 656 East and West at Looneys Creek Road, and Route 609 West from King Solomon Colley Road to the Dickenson County line. Appalachian Power reports that almost 1,000 customers in Buchanan County were still without power on Tuesday morning.
