INMATE AT USP LEE COUNTY PLEADS GUILTY TO WEAPON CHARGE

An inmate at the United States Penitentiary in Lee County pleads guilty to possessing a weapon. According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, 28-year-old Antwan Johsnson, of Jonesville, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court on Tuesday. Johnson was searched by Bureau of Prison Officers on January 6 before being escorted into the shower area. Officers found a metal object, that was approximately 7.5 inches long and sharpened at one end, in his right shoe. The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Prisons and Special Assistant United States Attorney Steven J. Luckie prosecuted the case for the United States. Johnson faces up to an additional five years in prison for the offense. He will be sentenced on September 3.
