Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear has signed an executive order to mandate masks in public. Starting at 5 p.m. today Kentuckians will have to wear a mask when in public. The Governor announced the statewide mask mandate on Thursday night after a third straight day on recorded numbers across the state hitting the 300 cases mark, which was the second-highest number of single day cases since the pandemic started. The local health departments will be enforcing the mandate, which is set for the next 30 days. People must wear masks when inside public buildings or businesses where they are around people or objects within six feet and in restaurants when not eating or drinking. Children under the age of five or those with asthma or COPD are not included in the mandate. Beshear says that the mandate allows the economy to remain open and helps the possibility of events like sports to return sooner.
