 Nickelsville man dead in Scott County crash last week. Virginia State Police report that a crash occurred on Sinking Creek Highway just west of Route 716 at 5:23 p.m. Wednesday, May 4. A Honda Civic was going east when it ran off the left side of the road and hit a tree. The driver, 54-year-old Lawrence E. Dean Jr., died at the scene. Dean was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. The crash remains under investigation.
