A Norton man has been charged in Kingsport after biting the top of a police officer's pinky finger off. The Kingsport Police Department reports that officers responded to a call about an intoxicated person at an apartment complex in the 1300 block of Riverbend Drive at 6:40 p.m. Upon arrival, officers found 36-year-old Alex Jessee, of Norton, sitting in the grass by the playground on the property. Jessee was reportedly sweating, acting erratically, and speaking in incoherent thoughts. When officers spoke to Jessee, he indicated that owned the property, but the regional property owner told officers that he did not belong there. When Jessee was patted down, a fixed blade and pocket knife were reportedly removed from his pocket. Officers spoke to the people who called it in and they said that Jessee had been wandering around the complex, claiming that he owned the property and acted aggressive when asked what he was doing. He also became aggressive when officers questioned him. Jessee assaulted officers at the scene after efforts to detain him and while doing so bit the top of an officer's left pinky finger off. He also took an officer's TASER and used it on the officer before biting his right arm as well. Jessee was eventually subdued by officers after he continued to bite and kick. The officer was transported to Holston Valley Regional Medical Center and Jessee was taken to Indian Path Community Hospital. He was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, disorderly conduct, vandalism, and public intoxication.
