PARENTS SUE THE LAUREL COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION AND THE SUPERINTENDENT OVER GRADUATION PLANS5/6/2020
![]() Dozens of parents have sued the Laurel County, Kentucky Board of Education and the superintendent over graduation plans. Officials say the original graduation plan for North and South Laurel was to film students accepting their diplomas without parents present. The graduating seniors were to have been given masks and practice social disitancing and the parents would have been given a video later in the month. The ceremonies were originally scheduled for Wednesday at North Laurel and Thursday at South Laurel, but both have been postponed. Parents argued that the plan did not follow state graduation or CDC guidelines and asked a judge to block the proceedings. Reportedly, the judge ordered the school district to revise their plans and to allow two parents or parental figures to attend. A meeting is expected to be held Wednesday at 5 p.m. about a revised plan. Comments are closed.
