TWO PEOPLE WERE INJURED AND ONE PERSON WAS CHARGED AFTER A SHOOTING IN ERWIN

Two people were injured and one person was charged in an early Tuesday morning shooting in Erwin, Tennessee. The Erwin Police Department reports that officers were notified about a shooting on Second Street between 1:45 and 2 a.m. Tuesday. Officers discovered that 21-year-old Edward Sargent Jr. fired a gun at a group of people. Two people were taken to the hospital after receiving minor injuries from ricochet shrapnel when a bullet hit off the curve or pavement. Sargent is charged with five counts of attempted 2nd-degree murder and one count of tampering with evidence. The EPD says that the case remains an open investigation at this time.
