VIRGINIA STATE POLICE HAVE IDENTIFIED THE DRIVER KILLED IN LEE COUNTY CRASH INVOLVING DEPUTY
Virginia State Police identify the driver killed in the crash involving a Lee County deputy. The VSP says it was 74-year-old Gail G. Tritt of Dryden that was killed on January 31st. Tritt's 1999 Ford Windstar van pulled out in front of a deputy responding to an emergency in the 48,000 block of Route 58. Tritt was transported to Lonesome Pine Hospital in Big Stone Gap and died there shortly after. The deputy had his lights and sirens running at the time of the crash and suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
